How to be your Authentic Self?

Many people ponder this question constantly looking for an answer that fits all. The answer is not quite that simple. Every individual has their set of footprints and foundations that are uniquely their own. No two people are exact matches on this planet so how could there possibly be one answer.

The answer is about the connection you have with your core beliefs at a soul level. It goes beyond the mind and into the heart. The connection can only be made once you let go of any old beliefs or conditions that no longer align with who you are. It’s not something that can be solved overnight. You need to focus on your whole lifetime from birth to the present. Asking tough questions by looking at how you have responded to situations throughout your life. Seeing if today you would still make the same decision and why you feel you chose that decision at that time.

As you begin to dive deep and explore, new beliefs may emerge, and some old ideas may stay the same. There is no way you can get it wrong. At times it may feel challenging because you see some patterns that do not feel good and may induce some intense feelings. The trick is to remind yourself that you always did the best you could with what you know. The more you find the truth of who you truly are the more you will become your authentic self. Being authentic means to be able to speak your truth with love no matter the situation.

Being authentic sounds easy but to many people who come from deeply rooted ancestral cultures it can be difficult to step out of line from those beliefs. My East Indian roots were heavily ingrained into me for many years even though I was living the Canadian dream. Often people including myself, don’t even see it happening to them until they pause and look at themselves.

Through this constant spiritual work, I have been able to uncover my truths that align with who I am today and how I choose to live my life. By finding my authentic self, I finally am living a life of love, happiness, peace, and freedom.
